Exercise After TT Surgery

In my practice, I recommend my patients to avoid strenuous exercises for 6 weeks to allow the tissues to heal. Aside from that, you can generally start light exercises including walking and light upper body workouts about 3 weeks after surgery.

Depending on the extent of the tummy tuck procedure and how much liposuction is performed at the same time, we can expect swelling to be a common occurrence after tummy tuck surgery. Most patients will have noticeable swelling within the first two weeks, but most of this will resolve by 6 weeks.

On the other hand, the last 10% of the swelling can take about 6 months to subside. Therefore, patients will be able to see approximate results about 6 weeks after surgery.

In short, you can expect your swelling to last between 3 to 6 months.

Also, if you have had liposuction at the same time, the recovery period may be a bit longer.

Tummy Tuck Scars / Can I Wear a Bikini One Year After Tummy Tuck?

First of all, there will be a visible scar in any case after tummy tuck surgery. However, the visibility of your scar depends on various factors such as skin tone, skin quality, genetics, and skin tightness.

During tummy tuck surgery, there are usually two scars around the navel and a second transverse scar placed low enough to be hidden by clothing.

And these scars depend on your individual anatomical features such as abdominal circumference, trunk height, umbilicus position, and the presence of stretch marks.

Yes, you can get pregnant after tummy tuck surgery. There is no medical barrier to becoming pregnant after tummy tuck surgery.

I advise my patients not to rush into pregnancy until they have fully healed from the tummy tuck surgery. At least 4-6 months will be sufficient.
